NOTES
|
|
|
The
Lonz.mp3 |
Written about a famous winery across
from Put-In-Bay on Lake Erie. Soft
shimmery and unusual acoustic chords punctuated by
snare and claps. Warmth and body
arrives in the monk like chorus
leading to a smooth satisfying
finish. |
|
|
Friends.mp3 |
Remembering the good times.
Co-written with my pal Steve L. A rounded
lightly saturated strumming Strat
surrounded by bright acoustics
accents with wafting
Allman-Brothers-like riffs. The
complexity of the rhythm is matched by
the chorus. |
|
|
South
Ocean Boulevard.mp3 |
Ballad reflecting on those warm South
Florida nights. Clear and up front
acoustic notes layered with echoey
melodic phrasing. A pinch of maracas
and a triangle provide the
spice. |
|
|
Conflict
or Compromise.mp3 |
At least 4 acoustic guitars playing
in a complex and serious song. The
conflict is brought to a head in the
antagonist's bridge. The finish
reveals the sour loneliness of the
resolution. |
|
|
Cajun Gypsy.mp3 |
A good old Cajun stomp. Medium bodied
base guitar, synth and kick notes
lay under the driving rhythmic guitars,
fiddle and keys. A bit of bite comes
from the harmony guitar
hook. |
|
|
The
Way It Is.mp3 |
A blues number
getting into some nice blues riff variations. Bitting
and slightly thin initial notes that smooth into
a rich fullness followed by a long finish. |
|
|
Elbow
Room.mp3
|
About the famous beach bar in Ft.
Lauderdale. You gotta go. Right from
the top, the up-tempo beat is
established. Hints of harmonica give a
little mid range edge while the silky
smooth reverberated electric riffs wafting
throughout tie the whole thing
together. The urgency of the chorus
implies that time is of the
essence. |
|
|
Sick
of You.mp3 |
I have
relationship issues. Starting gently with contented
acoustic notes and a 12-string, that slowly boils
over into exasperated electric guitars and pounding
drums. The intervening washy keyboard plays behind the soothing solo
in the last effort to bring the ingredients together. |
|
|
Not
So Simple.mp3 |
Getting
a little wah wah work done. Ever so slightly off tempo,
the hinted reggae accompaniment contrasts the
acoustic rhythm while each of the three guitar solos builds apprehension
for the next with increasing saturation and sustain. |
|
|
PC
Blues.mp3 |
A
relaxing little medley of slow cooks acoustic guitars
laced with an ethereal riff. Malty harmonies balance
out the hoppy lead vocal. |
|

|
Yorkshire.mp3
|
Instrumental
music from the 1800s. Not really rock,
more like marching-rock. Wonderfully saturated Strats
lashing away under a driving rhythm with kettle drum
accents in a no-nonsense delivery.
|
|

|
Triumph.mp3
|
Old march songs are a lot of fun to play. Bouncy
warm overdriven notes with complimentary acoustic accents
flavored with an iota of slow cooked flanginess.
The hook could be the Strats or the acoustics, depending
on you preference.

|

|
Golden
Sun.mp3
|
Soft
dyadic notes provide the main ingredient for the evolving
musical aromas that are gently released as the brew
slowly warms.
|
|

|
Black
and White.mp3
|
The
marching melody of the Black and White Regiment from
the 1800s. Cutting electric
phrasing in a creamy rhythmic reduction highlighted
with crispy acoustic stylings tailing off into a full
bodied
finish.
|
|

|
March
Of the King.mp3
|
Originally
the "Koniggratzer Marsch" which celebrated
the victory of Prussia over the Austrian Empire in
1866. Thick bass and guitars with a stomping beat finishing with a satisfying crescendo of high harmonies.
|
|

|
Fallen.mp3
|
A
song for a time to remember. As it ages, the complexity
of the dark and rich ingredients are revealed in this
mature offering.
